Solar lights have become quite popular for outdoor use in recent years. These lights use no electricity and are powered only by the sun. This gives them a number of advantages over other lighting options, so their growth in popularity is no surprise. The benefits include energy efficiency, low-cost operation, convenience, and versatility.

Solar lighting works by gathering energy from the sun during daylight hours and using this energy to power a rechargeable battery, which in turn powers the light. Most solar-powered lights use one or more LED bulbs, though some require the use of halogen bulbs for added brightness. LED bulbs tend to be very long lasting and use less energy compared to other types of light sources, and since LED technology continues to improve, it has quickly become the standard in the solar light industry.

Solar power is a completely renewable source of energy, so this type of lighting is quite good for the environment. It requires no electricity, so it does not deplete any nonrenewable energy sources used by the utility company. Since the sun provides an unlimited, steady stream of energy, these lights can be fully recharged on a daily basis, in an eco-friendly manner.

Of course, this also translates into savings on the electric bill. Utilizing solar energy is a great way to add outdoor lighting to a home without additional cost of operation. After the initial purchase, a solar light will be free to use.

Another reason that LED outdoor solar lights are so popular is that they are very convenient, in several ways. The installation process is extremely simple with these lights. Most types do not have any cords or wires to mess with, and since they do not require electricity, they do not need to be connected to the wiring of a home. Stake lights can simply be pressed into the ground, and at most, a wall light will need to be mounted.

Outdoor solar lighting is also extremely low-maintenance. LED bulbs are so long lasting that they will not need to be replaced until the entire fixture needs replacing. Designed for outdoor use, these lights tend to be very durable. They do not need to be plugged in, and most models do not even need to be switched on at night. Many come on automatically when the sun goes down, and some security varieties are motion-activated. All of these factors combine to make solar-powered lighting a hassle-free outdoor lighting solution.

The versatility of outdoor solar lighting also contributes to its popularity. The sun can be utilized to power all different types of outdoor lighting, including lanterns, string lighting, post caps, spotlights, wall-mounted units, stakes, and many other varieties, both decorative and practical. These are all available in a wide range of styles and capabilities, so any consumer is likely to be able to find something to fit his or her exact needs.

Furthermore, since solar lights outdoor do not need to be wired to a power source, many models can easily be moved. Many styles of garden and yard lights lend themselves especially well to this. A stake light that simply presses into the ground, or a rock light or other decorative type that is freestanding, is not fixed to just one location and has many possible uses. These are frequently placed along garden paths, sidewalks, or driveways to help mark the way at night, but they can also be used purely for decoration.

The advantages of solar lights for outdoor use are clear. They are environmentally friendly, cost-effective, simple to use, and very versatile. It is no wonder that they have become such a popular option.

Solar lanterns are a good option for any garden or pathway. They will help to keep your garden well lit at night, protecting your home from unwanted intruders. Solar garden lanterns are also aesthetically pleasing and will enhance your garden’s decor. They are easy to set up as you do not have to fuss with wiring; they usually come on a stake that is driven into the ground and the solar lantern is either attached to the top of the stake or hangs off the end of it. The lights will automatically turn themselves on at dusk and then switch off when the sun comes up.

You can buy a solar powered lantern or a set of solar powered lanterns; the latter option is a lot more affordable. The most affordable kinds are the types that are contemporary in style. Amazon.com has a number of solar powered lanterns sets. Some affordable ones include the Solar Flickering Cane Lanterns; a set of two sells for $30 while a set of four sells for $50. These lanterns are traditional in style and quite classy looking. Other affordable options include a Set of four Malibu Solar Lights in Black selling for $40 and a Stainless Steel Solar Lantern five pack selling for under $30. It should be noted that the latter set is a lot more plain and simple in design than the above mentioned options.

Another good place to look for affordable solar lighting for your garden is at overstock.com. This site has a wide selection, from the more ornate Shepards Hook Solar Hanging Lantern (Set of 6) by EGP currently selling for $70, to the colorful and eye-catching Color Stripe Solar Power Lanterns (Set of 6) by GS, selling for $74.

Another option is to buy statues with solar lighting. These are very ornate and beautiful. You can find solar powered dogs, fairies, frogs and plain stones that give off either white, blue or amber colored lights at night. Online retail site CSNlighting.com sells a couple of beautiful solar powered fairy lights, one in lavender and the other in yellow. These cost around $30 each. Solar powered rocks are often a bit more affordable but prices do vary depending on the particular kind you buy and where you buy it from. It should be noted that these lights are more for decoration; they give off some light but not enough to really light up your garden or pathway. Solar light is still a welcome addition to any home or garden.

If you are in the market for new garden lights, then you should consider looking into solar garden lights. They provide you with more creative freedom, and they can save you time and money. With the many advancements in technology, solar lights have become more and more popular. Lets look at a few advantages to making the switch to solar powered lighting.

A great advantage of solar powered garden lights is that they do not have power cords. With corded lights you have to hide the wire. You could bury the cord, but that is a ton of work, especially since you could just use a solar light source. Alternatively, you could leave the cord exposed, but it tends to look unappealing and there is the possibility of the cord getting damaged. In addition, electrical lights tend to have this problem: if one goes out, then others go out. You completely avoid this with solar lighting.

A solar garden light is an environmentally friendly choice. If living green is important to you, and it should be these days, then there is no smarter choice. Since batteries take hundreds of years to decompose, even battery-powered lights are a poor choice for the environment. By using solar lighting, you draw on one of the most plentiful free resources on Earth. You will save energy and money at the same time, and you will be glad you did when the electric bill comes.

Solar garden lighting is also incredibly easy to install. Most of the work comes from deciding what type of lights to get and where to put them. You just need to assemble them, and put them where you wish. This is far more convenient than bothering with corded lights. As mentioned, you have to hide electrical cords, which can take hours. This means solar lighting can save you hours of time as well.

Solar power garden lights also allow for more creative freedom. Lights that use electrical cords are all attached. It can be difficult to find a specific place to set them up, or perhaps, you just want one or two lights in certain spots. Solar lights can offer you that, and you never need to worry about how close you are to an outlet. The freedom of being wireless allows you to accent any part of your garden you want.

Solar garden lighting is an environmentally friendly alternative to other types of outdoor lighting. They save you time and money and allow you to be more creative with your garden lighting. They also look better in your garden as well. Now that you know a few of the many benefits of solar powered lights, you can start shopping around for lighting that will look great in your garden.

Solar light is easy to set up in the garden, patio or on the outside wall of your home. Even if you are not particularly concerned about the environment, you may want to consider the fact that solar lighting is free – you do not have to worry about paying extra for the electricity bill if you put up solar lights.

There are many different types of solar lights. Solar garden lights include string lights, stake lanterns, pathway lighting and wall mounted security lights with motion detectors. There are also seasonal lights, year round lights, multi colored butterfly and flower shaped lights, traditional and antique style lanterns that can be set up along the pathway leading up to the porch, and many more.

Solar powered lights can be bought quite easily and at a good price via online retailers. If you are looking for seasonal string lighting, Amazon sells quite a few different kinds, such as the GudCraft String of 100 Bright White Solar LED Lights and the Red, White and Blue Solar Power String Lights for under $30. You can also purchase more ornate lights such as the Trademark Solar Powered Four Inch Icicle Christmas Lights, or a Christmas light featuring a dove, snowman, star or candle.

Solar powered garden lights are also available on Amazon.com. This particular site has good prices on sets of modern style stake lanterns. You can buy these in sets of two, four, six, eight, ten or a dozen, depending on the size of your garden. If you are looking for something more ornate and decorative, then the Pine Top Lavender Fairy Solar Light and Pine Top Yellow Fairy Solar Light are particularly beautiful. These lights can be found at CSNlighting.com and they cost around $30 each.

Solar powered security lights, while not as aesthetically pleasing as the above mentioned types, are important for your home’s safety. These come in different sizes and the price varies depending on what kind you buy. Regular stores such as Wal-Mart, Target, Home Depot and Sears sell these but online retailers usually offer a better selection and more affordable prices. However if you are not familiar with this kind of lighting and are unsure of what exact model would be the most suitable for your home, then shopping at a regular store will help you to get a closer look at the options and talk with a salesperson, who can answer any questions you may have.

Solar lighting has become increasingly popular in recent years. Solar lights are an environmentally friendly alternative to traditional lighting and they can also be very cost-effective in the long term.

A solar light uses sunlight to create energy, and the energy is stored in a battery inside the light. A full day of sunshine can create as much as 8 hours of power for the light to use throughout the night. For areas that receive a lot of sunshine around the year, solar powered lights can be a very convenient option and can replace conventional electrical lights.

Because solar-powered light bulbs do not need electricity, the lights do not have to be connected to the grid, and if you have recently switched to solar-powered lighting you will soon start to notice significant savings in your energy bills. Even if your local area does not get sunshine all year long, you can still use solar power for a part of your lighting needs and get the rest of your electricity from the grid. By switching to solar energy for just a part of your electricity needs you can start to save money and reduce your electricity requirements.

If you are looking for outdoor lighting options, solar garden lights can be an environmentally friendly and convenient way to light up the garden or driveway. Because they do not need any wiring, outdoor solar lights can be easily installed even in places where traditional lighting systems would be inconvenient or impossible to install. The light from the bulbs is usually very bright and this makes solar bulbs a good option for driveways or any other areas where you need bright security lighting. Individual lights can be placed along the driveway, in the garden or outside the front door to increase security and visibility. Placing individual lights around the garden is also a good way to highlight specific areas in the garden’s design, or to highlight features such as statues or plants.

As well as saving money, solar powered garden lights help save the environment and reduces our dependency on the power grid. Because they are not dependent on a power supply other than the sun, they also function during power outages. Many homeowners are reluctant to invest in solar power because of the higher initial costs compared to traditional lights, but the savings in energy bills soon proves solar powered lighting more cost effective over the years than using traditional electrical lights.

Your home garden is an area to enjoy and take pride in. Many homeowners spend several hours a week giving their garden the attention it needs to thrive and stay appealing to your family and guests. While your outdoor garden may be up to par with your expectations, it is important to compliment this exterior display with right solar powered garden lights that will add the perfect ambiance to the outdoor area of your home. Solar power garden lights are affordable, safe, convenient and cost-effective to run. Take advantage of the advances in lighting technology and dress up your yard with decorative solar powered garden lighting.

Garden lighting applications that are powered by the sun’s energy are sold in local home improvement stores as well as through online retailers. Stake lighting can cost as little as $5 per fixture, up to $50 per fixture depending on the brand, source and quality of the lights. Reviewing the quality of each brand, the wattage of the lights, and their life expectancy will assist you in making a well-educated purchase. While some fixtures costs as little as $5, keep in mind that just like any other product sold at a cheap price, you get what you pay for with a solar power garden light.

Aside from being affordable, these fixtures are also cost-saving tools in terms of usage. While other lighting applications require power outlets to glow in the dark hours of the night, solar designs are completely powered by the sun and require no electricity to be used. This is a huge step in energy conservation and will save you annually on your electricity costs.

Installing a solar powered garden light is easier than any other type of lighting. Because there are absolutely no cords, this means there is absolutely no hassle. Hassle-free installation simply involves staking the light into the ground, and you are set up. Make sure the solar panel built into the fixture is facing the sun for maximum charge during daylight hours. A full charge will give the lights enough power to gleam throughout the night, just to go to sleep during the day as they charge again.

Add a beautiful glow to your patio, walkways, garden and other areas by investing in premium solar lights. Find fixtures that will match your exterior decor and exude the proper amount of light within designated areas. Give your garden additional spark and flare with garden accessories that will compliment your pride and joy.

With homeowners association due’s always on the rise, many neighborhoods can benefit from the positive impact of solar lights. There are many areas in your neighborhood where solar lighting can impact you in a good way. If there are areas where no lights are available at all, solar lighting makes even more sense because anyone can do it and the installation process is very easy.

Entry Gate Lighting

Many neighborhoods have entry gates and signs that already have lighting available. Converting this lighting over to solar can have a positive impact on the amount of electricity being used daily especially if these lights run all day long. If there is an area where electricity is not available, solar is very easy to install because there is no need to run wires to each unit or back to a breaker box for electricity.

Public Buildings and Common Areas

Depending on how your neighborhood is setup, there can be many areas where additional lighting would be very beneficial for safety and security. Many solar floodlights have motion sensors built in which makes them automatically turn on when there is motion in the area. These are great for when people are approaching any building, walkway, or pathway so that residents do not have to walk in the dark. Once again because they are solar lights, the installation of these lights only involves assembling the fixture and mounting it where ever you can get direct sunlight.

Landscape and Deck Lighting

Many subdivisions today have a pool with an entertainment area where you and your family can spend your summers having fun. Most of these areas around the pool are landscaped with plants, shrubs, and flowers which add a significant amount of appeal to many homeowners. There are a wide range of solar deck lights that can be placed around the perimeter or along walkways that are sure to be a hit among the neighborhood. They highlight these areas at night and provide ambient light which enables you to have pool parties in the evening. These lights are also great for tennis and basketball courts.

The landscape around the pool area can be dramatically changed by adding some solar lights to accent flowers and plants. They are easy to install… all you have to do is stick them in the ground and let the sun do the rest. No wires, no worry.

If any of these ideas will work in your neighborhood, contacting your home owners association might be a good idea. Let them know your plan and how you would like to incorporated outdoor solar lighting in your subdivision not only to help conserve energy but to provide a safer, more beautiful neighborhood.

Solar lights have advanced so much throughout the years making it a great way to harness the power of the sun. We can use it in many ways to supplement our lifestyles so that we can become less dependent on traditional sources of energy. Being able to grab power from rays of sunshine that come down from the sky is amazing in itself. But, with this amazing technology also comes some disadvantages that have kept this from becoming mainstream in our daily lives.

One of the biggest downsides to solar power is that its not always available. There is no guarantee that the sun will be shining all day, every day so dependability can be a major drawback for some. Because of this you will have to have a way to collect all the energy into a battery of some sort. Most solar lights have built in rechargeable batteries that collect all of the power during the day. At night, they can usually run about 8 hours on average depending on the lights you purchased. If it is cloudy or rainy all day then your lights wont have a full charge which can put a damper on your evening. These variables are all dependent on where you live and how much sun you get year round.

If you already have low voltage lighting in your yard and like the amount of light they put off, you might be disappointed in outdoor solar lighting. Solar lighting doesn’t get as bright as most low voltage systems since they don’t run off of electricity. This can be a concern for some people that are looking for bright lights.

Solar lighting also tends to fade through the night as the batteries are being drained. If you like to entertain well into the night then you might get caught out in the dark if your lights go out. Some people want the consistency that low voltage lighting provides and find this to be a major issue with solar lighting. Everyone has different needs so it all depends on what your expectations and needs are.

Depending on what kind of solar lighting you get, some models can be disposable depending on how they are built. A lot of solar lights are built in a non-modular form which means if the bulb goes out then you have to replace the whole unit. On low voltage lights you would just replace the bulb. This typically occurs in you have lower priced units so it might be a good idea to do some research and ask some questions so you get the lights you want.

The only reason I am discussing the disadvantages of solar lighting is because I feel you need to know the positives and negatives before you plan on making the switch. I feel the positives far outweigh the negatives but you need to know what you are getting into before you make an investment.

Anytime you can save money, its a good thing. Money is usually the biggest motivator for anyone to go green. Not always the case for everyone, but some find it a big enough motivator to start making the change. If there has ever been a time you were considering “going green”, solar lighting is a great place to begin.

You can invest in a few solar lights and accessories for your yard so that you can enjoy your outdoor space any time of day without hurting your wallet or mother nature. Going green is more than just saving money. If everyone did their part to try and make a positive impact on our energy crisis, we would be one step closer to becoming energy dependent.

Solar lights are the most energy efficient outdoor lighting you can install because they get all of their energy from the sun. Using the sun as the source, these lights run completely independently meaning there is less maintenance and no electricity being used. This could save you a lot of money depending on how many lights you currently run in your yard or outdoor space.

There are many areas outside your house that you use lights. You can use lights to outline your driveway or fence. Outdoor lights have become extremely popular in the garden to light up a walkway that may lead off to another part of your yard. You also might have decorative fixtures up by your house or on columns. Deck lighting is another area where the proper lighting can make a huge difference in the mood and decor.

All of the areas mentioned are all candidates for solar lights. Little by little you can start changing out these lights in a way thats easier than ever. Each step or change you make will get you closer to becoming energy independent in many outdoor areas around your home that will in turn help put money back in your pocket. This is money you can spend on other areas of your home to improve or fix up.

If you can’t seem to find what you are looking for at your local hardware store, then take a look online. Today more than ever there are many online lighting dealers that are making a name for themselves. It can sometimes be tough to find a reputable dealer online but I think you will find with a little research there are more than you think.
