Benefits of using Landscape Solar Lights

If you are planning to incorporate lighting in your yard in the near future then you should look at solar lights as a viable option. They are extremely easy to use and setup. The prices have come down significantly so that is no longer an excuse. Today there are more options to choose from and technology has allowed us to see some great results from solar power.

There are several reasons why you would want to use solar instead of low voltage landscape lighting. Using solar requires less work since they don’t use any wires so there are no ditches to dig in your yard. This is especially nice if you don’t like messing with electricity.

With solar, you are using energy from the sun that is collected in the sensor and then sent to the rechargeable batteries in the unit. This means you won’t be using any additional electricity so your electric bill will drop if you replace any existing low voltage lighting with solar lights.

Easy to Install

Simply push the stake into the ground then mount the sensor and light fixture on top and your done. Thats it! If you don’t like where you have mounted some of your lights then move them somewhere else. You have complete flexibility and control on where you would like to put your lights.

Environmentally Friendly

With energy shortages and rising fuel costs, solar is the only way to go. Solar energy uses no fuel, creates no pollution, and is a completely free energy source.

Safety

Solar is safe because the lights don’t produce any heat or get hot. They are cool to the touch which makes them perfect for any yard or playground where kids are going to be playing. Garden paths, playgrounds, or any walkway is the perfect place to install these.

Negatives

As much as I wish this technology was perfect, it isn’t. Below are a few downsides of using solar power

- Solar Lights are not as bright as low voltage landscape lights

- The light output tends to fade as they are on longer through the night

- Light output could vary depending on the time of year and how much sun they get

- In most case’s, if the light fails then you have to replace the whole unit instead of just the bulb

If you have been looking for a way to conserve energy by using alternative energy sources, solar lights are the perfect way to get started. You will not only save money on your electric bill but overall you will be doing your part to help use less energy worldwide. Technology is changing rapidly in the solar sector so do your research before you buy yourself a set of solar powered garden lights.
